Ashley's Portable CD player case

This is a portable CD player case I made for Ashley. I thought that this would be nice for her to carry around her CD player in. Also so that she wouldn't drop it. I just took a piece of paper and drew an out line of the player and thickness of it. and made a pattern of it. I also made a place for her to put some CD's in the back. I hope she likes it.

The Good and the Bad

MERCY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do you want the good news or the bad news first. I am so excited about the good news so I will tell you that first. I learned how to do 3 needle bind off :) Yeah. It wasn't as hard as I thought it was going to be.

Until DUNT,DUNT ,DUNT ,DUN, I do have an excuse I was distracted. It was so easy I wasn't paying attention. All of a sudden I was done. I tried on my sweater and here is the BAD news.

I bound off the sweater with the inside and outside facing together, Then I forgot to bind off with the outside facing so that my sweater wouldn't look like I was wearing it inside out. I did this 2 days ago and I still haven't accepted the challenge of frogging it because I am afraid of many dropped stitches. This yarn is Bernat Soft Boucle and doesn't frog well. Oh and because I was fair Isle knitting I stranded the stitches a little tight. I will need to add 2 inches in the side seam. I have put this project in time out for now. Over all by the time I finish this project I will learn some valuable information and the next time I knit a sweater I will turn the TV off when appropriate so that I am not distracted. Another comforting fact. I am sure I am not the only one that has done this. Happy knitting.

Austin's shark

This is a picture of the shark Austin designed. He drew a picture of the shark and I cut it out, put it on paper, sewed it together, and Austin stuffed it. It was more fun than build a bear workshop. He loves it because he helped create it. I plan on making more because it is fun to see how it will turn out.

My Sisters

These are pictures of my sisters at our birthday party. Can you guess which one is me? The picture on the top going from left to right is Cindy, Caroline, and me (Carrie). The one on the bottom is Cindy and Me. We are twins. As you can see we got each other the same Birthday card. Are we twins or what. We even wrote some of the same things in the card. I opened the card and was immediately confused. I thought I opened the card I gave my sister. My sister Caroline is amazing. She made her daughter's prom dress this past spring. My sister Cindy makes amazing cakes. We are all crafty in our own way. I think we get it from our amazing Mother.

Ashley's Doll

This is a Precious Moments doll I made for my daughter Ashley. The pattern came from a Leisure art's booklet. It took me 9 months to make because I was working weird hours and didn't have time to crochet it. I have made this doll a sister. I went down 2 hook sizes to make it smaller and added low lights to her hair. I would post a picture but she is still waiting on a pair of eyes from the eye doctor AKA my mom. She is an amazing artist. She paints them and they look amazing. I wish I had that talent. I guess I will stick to fiber for now. This doll was made with crochet thread size 3. I have a hard time working with crochet thread size 10. I drool over people that can. Hopefully I will have pictures of this doll's sister soon.

On the Needles

This is my first attempt at knitting a sweater. I hope all goes well. I am a new knitter and I have trouble reading instructions sometimes. To the left is the back of the sweater. To the right is the front. I experimented with Intarsia. It was fun. I have been working on this project only at work. I will post more as it comes along. Happy knitting everyone.

My First knitting project

This is the first knitting project I have ever done. I found out that I knit too tightly. The hat barely fits. I also got lost when I sat the project down. I didn't know if I left off on a purl row or a knit row. I figured it out after 2 rows. I now know how to tell the difference. At least It happened in a place that the hat still looks alright. I also use a needle size bigger just about on all my projects. Since this hat I have made other things and experimented with Fair Ilse. I love the challenge it brings. I will be getting a weaving loom soon. My mom is going to get me one for my Birthday. I am so excited. I love to learn new things that you can do with fiber. After that I want to learn how to spin. I am very lucky that I have plenty of time at work to work on crafts. I can do at least 3 if not 4 hours of knitting a day there. It is awesome.
Please feel free to leave a comment and let me know what you think.

My First Sewing Project

This is the very first outfit I ever sewed. My MamMaw taught me how to do it. This is very special to me even though the style is outdated I will treasure the memories I have making this with her. Unfortunately, I didn't become crafty until about 5 years after she passed away. I could have learned more from her great knowledge. Over the pasted few years I have made many other things which some I have made on my own and others my beautiful Mother has graciously helped me make some beautiful outfits for my daughter Ashley. I like to think that my MamMaw is still with me and guides me when I get stuck on a project, because somehow I will figure it out, If my mom is unavailable. It is the same when it comes to crochet and knitting. My Aunt Mary helped me figure out crochet patterns and knitting I have tackled on my own with the help of books and DVD's. I am still having issues reading some patterns but my friend at work Pat has helped more than she knows. I will share other projects that I have made soon. Thank you for checking out my blog.

My First Post

I am so excited about my first blog. I don't have many friends that can get together and play with fiber. When I get a chance to talk about it It is difficult for me to shut up. I have a degree in Horticulture, cosmetology, know how to knit, sew, crochet, just to name a few. I will be coming up with topics in all these categories. If you have any questions please drop a comment.
Until next time have fiber fun.
