Wine Bottle Coozy

I finally gave my Best Friend Jill her Christmas present!!! It is a wine bottle coozy!! The material I used it from her brides maids dresses from her wedding. I had extra material from when we made grab bags for an aniversary party for her and her husband. The bottle is actually (42below ) It is a product of New Zeland. It is named after the longitude. It took awhile to get this product, so it isn't completely my fault that I gave it to her late. I love you Jill!! I colored her hair purple last night. She is going to send me pictures of her hair so that I can post it and show you her pretty purple hair. She loves the color purple. Well I love the color green, I wonder if I could put some green streeks in my hair. That would be fun. But, I'm not sure Barry would like it , maybe if I did Camo colors he would like it. He is all about the Camo these days!!I love you honey!!!

My New Needles!!

First, I wanted to show you what I am working on. These cute magic card wallets are what I am still working on for Christmas gifts. I know the time has passed, but I am still willing to get them done.

They are easy and fun to make. You can pull on the ribbon and the card will come out. It's like magic. If you are in my family, one is coming your way.

Next, I got a new cell phone for Christmas. Yea!!! However I have broken my last couple of phones so I wanted to make something for this phone to make it impossible for me to break. There is vinyl knitted in the front of this cozy. I can wear it around my neck and talk on it while it is still in the pouch. If I drop it it will still be hanging around my neck. The clear vinyl allows me to text and scroll through the screens. The size I made will fit Iphones and you can still move through the screens even though the vinyl is covering it.

I have a pocket wide enough behind my phone that will fit my wallet, lipstick, even my zune 30gig.:)
I will have to make more in all kinds of colors.

Also, from my parents and me selling a pink knitted hat like my sisters I was able to buy this Denise Interchangable needle set. I already cast on my first project. This is the Art Yarn Beaded silk and sequins my mom bought me on vacation. I think of her and my Dad while I am knitting this yarn. I am making a hat from Knitty. It is called Duet .  I love how this pattern can be either a scarf or a hat. I had a hard time with what to make with this yarn because it is so beautiful. Now I can have 2 projects in one. I am glad I waited to knit with this yarn and found this pattern. Check it out. Thank you Mom and Dad!!!!! and Me!!!!

I wonder what else I will make using these needles!!! I am looking for shawl patterns. I may make this Heirloom shawl   Check it out. I have some 100% Rayon yarn I may make one out of. Ravelry has a group that is making this shawl with a errata page. I guess people saw some mistakes in the pattern. I also saw Laura's shawl pattern I may make as well. Must get started. I am also finishing up my sister's new mittens. I hope these don't unravel on her.

Krystin's Hat

Here is a hat I knit for Krystin. I may knit one for me next. I love how warm it is. I also love how fast they are to knit up. I am going to look in my stash and try to make some hats out of my stash. I would like to go to Stitches South this year and I am sure they have yarn there. If I knit up the yarn I have, I could buy some more there. Hmmmm...... What project do I start on next? So exciting!!!

Cindy's Hat and Gloves

Here are the hat and gloves I made for my sister. Can you see where it is coming out? Ahhh. hold on little stitches please don't run too far. I am trying to make a new pair for her this week and I am going to make sure I weave in the tail really far. I know it is cold up there and I want to make sure her hands stay warm.
Hang in there little gloves. These are the first pair I have ever knit. I was surprised at how fast they were to knit up.

I love working with this yarn. I am going to have to make me a pair. It is Bernat Alpaca.
The fair isle pattern makes the hat thicker, therefore it is warmer.  Soon Cindy, they will be on their way to Minnesota. I love you!!!!

More FO's

I finished weaving this bag just in time for Christmas. Eli gave this bag to his wife for Christmas. He said she loved it. I really enjoyed making this bag. I also loved how the colors worked really well together. I have some leftover yarn from this project, so I am going to make a cell phone cozy for her as well.

My friend Pat at work has been working on this cross stitch project over the last year. It is nearly finished. It is so beautiful. It's about 15"x 15" approx. I just love the colors. Awesome job Pat!!!

So here is the only pic I have of my sisters gloves. These are the first pair I have ever made. I don't know what has happened to me lately. I haven't been taking pic of the items I have completed. I finished these gloves, but forgot to take a pic of them. I also made a hat to go with it and forgot to take a pic of it. I am making another one, so maybe I'll remember to take a pic. I love how these gloves feel. It is made out of Alpaca yarn from   Bernat. It wont felt because it has a small percent of acrylic in it. Cindy said she was in -19 degree weather and her hands didn't get cold. Maybe she can take a pic of them and send me  it so that I can post them.
Well I would post my Christmas presents I made this year, but I didn't get them done. Oops. Maybe I will get one done today? I better get to it then. Merry Christmas!!!!

Events in our life have been difficult and you are always there to pick me up. You are an amazing Husband. My Father, he is the strongest man I know. He just keeps on going no matter what is going on in his life. He warms my heart with all the kind and thoughtful  things that he does. He has filled my belly full on many occasion as well as fun playing golf. Your selfless acts do not go unnoticed. I also want to thank you for guiding me and giving me knowledge over the last several months. You are so smart. It blows my mind all the things you know. I love you Dad!!  You are special and dear to my heart. My mom... she is an amazing women. She can do it all and get it done. She has been a major part in my life since I had my daughter Ashley. My twin sister Cindy, There are no words that can really explain how Cindy means to me. She is my other me. Only twins really can understand the bond that we share. She has been there with me since day 1 literally. She has recently moved out of state and because she isn't in the next town anymore I feel a great emptiness in my heart. Words can't express the sorrow I feel knowing I can't hop into my car to go and spend the afternoon with her. I love you Cindy and miss you deeply. She is vibrant and always makes me feel happy even if there is nothing to say. She means so much to me. She is a good listener even if I am rambling on about yarn, or whatever she will still listen. Born Again Americans

Born Again American from Born Again American on Vimeo.

Wow I was overwhelmed with emotion watching this video. I am over here in Florida doing my day to day activities while there are American's overseas fighting. Washington keeps spending money like we have it growing on trees. Unemployment  keeps growing. Our country is in economic trouble. I pray that we can get through this time and that our Government will work for the people and bring us some much needed hope. So far all the change I have seen our government do is spend money we don't have and our kids are going to suffer because of it.  Here is the link to the video's web site  http://www.bornagainamerican.org/index.php   pass it along if you like.

Knitting, Swimming, Running, and Weaving Oh My !!!

This is the first scarf that my mom has ever knitted. You would think she is a pro by her knitting and talking on the phone at the same time. She quickly finished this scarf and promptly started on another one. I think she is hooked. I thought I took a picture of her scarf, but I can't find it anywhere.

The first weekend in November my friend Jill and I swam for charity. We've been practicing all summer for this moment. My first lap of the summer I didn't know how I would be able to even finish this race, but I did. All 500 yards of it. You may not think it is far, but it is. I am so proud of us.

You can see Jill coming up on the left toward the end of the video. My Hubby was so encouraging. You can hear him cheer me on. They also ran a 5K. I wanted to run it, but I haven't ran in awhile, so I thought it was best to skip it. No I didn't skip the whole 5 K, I just didn't run in it. I did run a mile last night. It only took me 12 min and 21 seconds. It is amazing how time can change things. I use to run a mile in 5 min. 50 seconds. I need to practice more. My knees were hurting and sore when I finished. Does this mean I am getting old or just out of practice?

Another woven bag project. I haven't been knitting at home for a while now because I've been working on this beautiful woven bag. All my knitting is done on my rode trips or when I'm at work at Universal or on my way to Disney.
This is the strap for the bag. This yarn was dyed with natural plant dyes and spun by Jennifer from  http://www.goshyarnit.com/  This is where I got the yarn for other bag I wove. It took me 6 hours to make this strap.

This is the start of the bag 4 hours into it. The yellow yarn was really tangled up and it took almost 2 hours to untangle it. You have to wrap the yarn in the heddle. This is the purple looking thing hanging in the middle. You go around once through the slat, then the next time around you go through a hole. Warping, or wrapping the yarn around takes the longest to do in my opinion. The rest of the project should be smooth sailing. It will be difficult for me to let this peice go. I love the colors and textures.

This is day number 4. It took me another 3 hours to get this far.

I can't wait to start weaving it to see the patterns that it will make. I wrapped the yarn around in a certain way so that It will make a nice pattern.

I hope to start weaving it by Sun. I want to apologize to Eli for taking so long to make this bag. It does take awhile to make and my schedual has been very limited at home. I am dedicating more time to this now, because I know Christmas is coming and I want to make sure it is done in the next 2 weeks. Well, you know what I'll be doing the next two weeks.

Funny and Some Crafting A Little Too Far!!!!!

This video made me laugh!!! I hope you enjoy!!!

I had posted a photo of someone that made a teddy bear from their own placenta. I couldn't look at it any more so I took it off.  It really bothered me. I did enjoy the video.
